reflective material models using the Ward "metal" model as implemented in Radiance, plus add-ons for fitting
These examples are a bit more advanced. These specular materials mostly have a "peak-ed" BSDF, nd a few not-so-specular materials have been added for comparison.
To handle the data of these specular, ''shiny'', the fitting and visualisation process uses some added features:
- Angular resolution is increased around the peak, using an automatic adaptive algorithm during measurements.
- One parameter is kept constant during fitting: For metal, the first parameter defines the direct-hemispherical reflection ρ, which is first calculated from measurement data and then kept fixed during fitting of the model parameters.
- Extra degree of freedom for the peak position stabilises fitting of highly specular materials.
- The 3D and 2D plots are shown on a logarithmic scale on the Y-axis, otherwise the peak and the background scatter won't fit into the same plot. Click on the image to get data and plots for incident angles.
